What to Expect:

Learning 4 Life Farm is a 7 acre farm with raised garden beds, a diverse pollinator habitat, sensory spaces, beehives, alpacas, rabbits and more. Daily schedules will vary, but will include a variety of creative arts activities, gardening, animal interactions and classroom instruction.

  • Social Skill Development: Because “work” doesn’t mean we won’t be having fun! Create friendships, explore interests, and come ready for life-long connections!
  • Workplace Experience: Practice effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability to confidently navigate social interactions in a professional setting.
  • Interview Practice: Learn tips and tricks to ace job interviews through role-playing and constructive feedback.
  • Resume Development: Undergo a skills assessment for future careers and craft a professional resume that showcases your skills, experiences, and goals!
  • Project Completion: Students will work together to complete a group project and earn a certificate of completion. This may include planning a summer market or a Farm to Table event for their parents and surrounding community!

Through hands-on activities, animal interactions, guided lessons, and real-world practice, students will gain the tools they need to build confidence and thrive in the workplace.

Student Expectations

Students enrolled in the program are expected to demonstrate the following abilities to ensure their safety, well-being, and participation in group activities:

  • Independence: Students must be able to work independently (under supervision) for a minimum of 20 minutes once provided with a task.
  • General Behavior: If your child has a history of elopement or requiring professional holds throughout the school day, L4L staff is not equipped to provide these accommodations.
  • Bathroom Independence: Students must be able to use restroom facilities independently without requiring direct staff assistance.
  • Effective Communication: Students should be able to communicate their needs, preferences, and any concerns to staff members using verbal or alternative communication methods effectively.
  • Group Participation: Students are required to remain with the assigned group during activities and transitions to ensure safety and group cohesion.

Reasonable accommodations and support will be provided to assist students in meeting these expectations, as appropriate and feasible. Noncompliance with these requirements may necessitate a review of the student’s placement. Please note that if your child requires a one-on-one aide, Learning 4 Life Farm is unable to provide this accommodation at this time. Aids are welcomed but must be provided through an outside source.

FAQs

Who is this camp for?

This program is designed for neurodiverse youth and young adults who are ready to explore workplace skills, build confidence, and engage in meaningful, farm‑based learning.

Why Summer Farm Lab?

Many neurodivergent teens and families face the same question after high school: “What comes next?” At Learning 4 Life Farm, our mission is to empower youth and young adults with the social and vocational skills they need to thrive.

With 85% of the neurodiverse community underemployed, Summer Farm Lab was created to bridge that gap. Through hands‑on farm work, guided lessons, and real‑world practice, students build confidence, communication skills, and workplace readiness in a supportive, sensory‑aware environment.

Summer Farm Lab is more than a camp— it’s a meaningful step toward independence, self‑advocacy, and a future full of possibility!

What will students do during the camp?

Each day includes a blend of hands‑on activities and guided instruction. Students may participate in:

No two days look exactly the same — the farm environment keeps things engaging and dynamic.

What should students wear?

-Comfortable, weather‑appropriate clothing
